Mumbai, July 25, 2006: New research released by eBay India, India’s leading online marketplace, shows that nearly 31% of eBay sellers or 12,800 Indian entrepreneurs including many businesses, make a primary or secondary source of income selling on eBay India. An independent survey was conducted in June 2006 by AC Nielsen with eBay sellers across USA, Canada & Asia-Pacific.

eBay has recently jumped on the blog bandwagon. They have opened a new section of the website called eBay blogs. This allows a registered eBay user to sign up for and maintain a blog. France’s Union of Manufacturers (Unifab), an industry group, is all set to sue eBay and other auction sites, for selling counterfeit products on their web pages.

According to Marc Antoine Jamet, chairman of Unifab, the objective of the lawsuit is to crack down on product pirates and fakes that are making profit, thanks to eBay and other Internet auction sites. Other auction sites that may be sued along with eBay include iOffer.com, Yahoo! and Japan’s Rakuten.
